Well, have made it back from the Falls Festival at Marion Bay. The Falls Festival is a new years music festival held in Victoria and Tasmania each year. One could say I enjoyed myself. On the other hand, one could say I now despise humanity and question why I bother to defend the rights of wankers on a daily basis. You see, I went to the Falls Festival not as a patron of the musical arts but as a volunteer of a renouned international human rights organisation and as a result of this, endured a substantial amount of abuse. I always find it plain weird that people don't think they have basic human rights. Well, perhaps I should rephrase that. People have no problem thinking they have basic human rights. They just don't think other people should have those rights too. Oh well, all in all, the festival was good. Got told to 'fuck off' numerous times when asking people to sign a petition but kept my self-esteem intact by yelling 'have a nice day' and 'jesus and i love you' after the prodigious fuckwits who don't believe in a fair trial for all. Music was beyond marvellous in some instances and obscenely dull in others. I thought Wolfmother and Eskimo Joe were plain ordinary but know thousands would, and are welcome, to disagree with me. John Butler Trio made dance like an ecstatic banshee (and heaven forbid, I was actually sober), The Mountain Goats put an inexplicable smile on my face (I got to meet the singer John through my petition work. He apologised for American apathy, and I apologised for Australian apathy, myself included.), Michael Franti was obscenely good and when he kicked in with Bob Marley's 'Fight for your Rights', us NGO'ers went off. The Hilltop Hoods were bloody good too but by this time, I was so tired, I could barely make the effort to dance to them. A good festival, I would say. One of our crew spewed in the van on the way home, we collected an impressive number of signatures and we're allowed to go back next time. So success, I say!
